Ever feel like you want to bounce an idea off another speaker? Or brainstorm on a challenge or an opportunity? And get to know your colleagues more?

Here is your chance… CAPS BC is proud to announce our CAPS BC Think Tank: Mastermind Series. Over the course of 5 sessions spanning 10 weeks, you will be teamed up with 3 or 4 other members to bring the power of your brains together into a “Think Tank”.

In these 90-minute sessions, the time will be equally divided between the members of your Think Tank Team, so everyone gets the chance to bring an obstacles, goal or opportunity to your fellow CAPS members and receive ideas, suggestions, expertise, and feedback.

The sessions will be facilitated, so we can use the time efficiently.

Here are the benefits of the CAPS BC Think Tank:

  • You’ll LEARN skills and strategies from your fellow members’ expertise and from what has worked in their business.

  • You’ll get to SHARE your experience and expertise with your CAPS colleagues and in them knowing you better it opens the door for referrals.

  • You will benefit from the four consistent sessions which can help you GROW your business. As well as the resources, ideas and accountability will help you get into action and reach your goals.

  • Get to know your fellow members through these sessions and feel like you BELONG, so you can mutually experience support, motivation, and connection.

** We encourage all attendees to commit to all 5 sessions, if possible.

  • 1st session: Tues, Oct 10th @ 4-5:30pm PST

More details about how this event will work:

  • We will kick-off the first event with a “How to get the most out of the Think Tank tips”

  • Then we move into breakouts, ideally in groups of 4 to 5 people each person will have their time (10-15min) in the “HOT SEAT”. They usually focus on one main topic which could be:

  1. A problem they need solutions or advice on

  2. A idea they need feedback on

  3. An opportunity they’d like to optimize

  • They share their request in about a minute and then have the rest of the 10-15 minutes of time to receive from others. There will be someone taking notes, or each person may record their own session time. All ideas will be received and written down.

In order for this to work well, each member is suggested to:

COMMIT as best you can to the four sessions.

• Be OPEN to giving and receiving advice, ideas, and feedback.

• Be RESPECTFUL of others and of the group rules.

KEEP CONFIDENTIALITY with the information being shared.

• Be CONCISE in sharing the topic (when you’re in the HOT SEAT) and in giving your ideas.

• Be PRESENT when it’s not your turn to give the best input.

Diane Rolston

CAPS BC Members Summer Social on Saturday, July 22nd 4-9pm.

Graciously hosted by Tom and Kathy Watson, a CAPS afternoon/evening social event offering a beautiful outdoor setting with gardens, a putting green and space to enjoy the company of CAPS members and their partners.

Hotdogs and hamburgers will be on hand, should you prefer you may bring your own protein to barbeque.

This event is potluck-style, so bring something with you. Some ideas are:

  • Veggies & dip

  • Other finger food

  • Chips

  • Vegetarian options

  • Dessert

  • BOB (bring your own beverage)

Our very generous hosts will supply adult libations and mixers. And of course...drink responsibly, have a game plan and bring a designated driver.

Lorne Kelton is president of ThinkShift Performance Solutions Inc., a boutique consulting firm where he works with individuals and organizations to develop their Critical Thinking and Behavioural Leadership skills.

He is the author of several books on personal and professional development, including IFRAME: A Manager’s Guide to Critically Balanced Thinking. When not on the platform, Lorne can usually be found performing in film or theatre projects or working as a producer of independent film productions.

Nadja Piatka has appeared as a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show and other international media.

Oprah highlighted Nadja’s life about losing everything and coming back to create a successful food company with only a $100 investment and becoming a supplier to McDonald’s, Subway, Tim Hortons and retail grocers in North America.

After 20 years of marriage, Nadja found herself an unemployable single Mom raising two children. During one low point, while her 13-year-old daughter was home from school for lunch, a bill collector came pounding at the door and peering in the windows. Nadja had her daughter hide with her under a table from the bill collector. That humiliation prompted her to gain the strength to move forward and write down her goals, the majority of which she accomplished within one year.

Since no one would hire her, she decided she would hire herself. Ever feel like you want to bounce an idea off another speaker? Or brainstorm on a challenge or an opportunity? And get to know your colleagues more?

Here is your chance… CAPS BC is proud to announce our CAPS BC Think Tank: Mastermind Series. Over the course of 4 sessions spanning 4 months, you will be teamed up with 3 or 4 other members to bring the power of your brains together into a “Think Tank”.

In these 90-minute sessions, the time will be equally divided between the members of your Think Tank Team, so everyone gets the chance to bring an obstacles, goal or opportunity to your fellow CAPS members and receive ideas, suggestions, expertise, and feedback.

The sessions will be facilitated, so we can use the time efficiently.

Here are the benefits of the CAPS BC Think Tank:

• You’ll LEARN skills and strategies from your fellow members’ expertise and from what has worked in their business.

• You’ll get to SHARE your experience and expertise with your CAPS colleagues and in them knowing you better it opens the door for referrals.

• You will benefit from the four consistent sessions which can help you GROW your business. As well as the resources, ideas and accountability will help you get into action and reach your goals.

• Get to know your fellow members through these sessions and feel like you BELONG, so you can mutually experience support, motivation, and connection.

** We ask that you register and commit for all 4 sessions as you will be in the same group of 4 or 5 for all sessions.

More details about how this event will work:- We will kick-off the first event with a “How to get the most out of the Think Tank tips”

- Then we move into breakouts, ideally in groups of 4 to 5 people each person will have their time (10-15min) in the “HOT SEAT”. They usually focus on one main topic which could be:

1. A problem they need solutions or advice on

2. A idea they need feedback on

3. An opportunity they’d like to optimize

- They share their request in about a minute and then have the rest of the 10-15 minutes of time to receive from others. There will be someone taking notes, or each person may record their own session time. All ideas will be received and written down.

In order for this to work well, each member is suggested to:

COMMIT as best you can to the four sessions.

• Be OPEN to giving and receiving advice, ideas, and feedback.

• Be RESPECTFUL of others and of the group rules.

KEEP CONFIDENTIALITY with the information being shared.

• Be CONCISE in sharing the topic (when you’re in the HOT SEAT) and in giving your ideas.

• Be PRESENT when it’s not your turn to give the best input.

As speakers, in my opinion, we should all consider ourselves to be agents of change. If we aren’t changing someone or something, we don’t deserve to be paid. I can’t think of any good reason why individuals or organizations would invest their valuable resources (time, money, etc.) in paying someone who leaves people thinking and feeling exactly the same way they did before our words entered their ears.

After 40 years of being in front of groups (in person or online) for various reasons, what I now know to be true is that the one-way delivery of my words (of wisdom?) has the least likely chance of changing anything that sticks. This brief, power-packed session will explore a variety of ways to ensure your audience is fully engaged with your presentation(s) so they feel bigger, better, smarter, more confident, and motivated to make a change for themselves. My objective is to leave you feeling bigger, better, smarter, more confident, and motivated to make a change as you pull your chair back to head off to your next learning adventure!

  • A new (or reconfirmed) belief that engaging your audience beyond tossing words at them will increase the likelihood of a changed belief, attitude or skill that will make their work easier and lives better,
